FUTURE AND PREVIOUS EVENTS

March 28 2006, 10 am – 1 pm, Houses of Parliament

Parliamentary Technology Demonstration Morning

The role of public services are crucial in leading the revolution of both ‘eGovernment’ and ‘mGovernment’ and in rejuvenating the relationship between the citizen, their representatives and their providers. As the public become progressively more familiar with new technology, public service providers must keep up. This demonstration morning brings together a number of companies who are leading the way in providing solutions to the public sector in bridging this gap with the public to demonstrate to Parliament the improvements they could make to public services.

Mobile Phones: The Education Enhancing Tool (Date tbc)

Mobile phones are not seen as helpful in schools - stories of 'happy slapping' or of mobile use disrupting classes have lead to them being seen as the antithesis to ideal educational settings. But we may be missing some of the best things about mobile technology; it offers endless possibilities for children in school, from discussing and sharing homework to enabling youngsters to be tech-savvy. This seminar will discuss technological mobile innovations and how they could help in education.
